ISBN

You can choose to have an ISBN or not. What is an ISBN An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a unique 13-digit identifier for books and related publications, helping with listing, discovery, and distribution. It's not a legal requirement to have one, but it's essential for publishers, booksellers, and libraries for ordering, stock control, and identifying specific editions and formats. Purpose: ISBNs help manage inventory, track sales, and facilitate library cataloging. They ensure that each book or edition is easily and accurately identifiable. Format: ISBNs are typically 13 digits long, divided into five parts: prefix (e.g., 978 or 979), registration group, registrant element, publication element, and check digit. If you're publishing in multiple formats (e.g., paperback, ebook), each format requires a separate ISBN. ISBN and Barcodes: ISBNs can be purchased with or without barcodes. The ISBN is the unique product number, and the barcode is a visual representation of that number, readable by scanners.
